What Do I Need? Where Do I Sign Up? What Do I Have?

Confed Hockey strongly encourages all Coaches and Assistants Coaches to complete the required certification courses for the level at which they are coaching.
We are happy to reimburse the cost of the completed, required courses for coaches who are officialy listed on a Confed Hockey team roster.

So – What Do I Need? As A Coach? As An Asst?

RIS Coaches must be completed prior to being on the bench or the ice. All other Coaching Courses required must be completed by November 15.

U7-Discovery

  • ALL Team Officials (Coach or Asst Coach) Must have online RIS Coaches Course
  • Minimum of One Team Official (Coach or Asst Coach)  per 10 Players must have online Safety Course
  • Minimum of One Team Official (Head Coach and at minimum of one Asst Coach)  per 10 Players must have both:
     - Online Hockey Canada Coach 1 & U7 Player Pathway
     - In Person Hockey Alberta Coach 1 - Intro to Hockey (was Coach 1 - Intro to Coach).


U7-JR Timbits

  • ALL Team Officials (Coach or Asst Coach) Must have online RIS Coaches Course
  • Minimum of One Team Official (Coach or Asst Caoch) per 10 Players must have online Safety Course
  • Minimum of One Team Official (Head Coach and at minimum of one Asst Coach)  per 10 Players must have both:
     - Online Hockey Canada Coach 1 & U7 Player Pathway
     - In Person Hockey Alberta Coach 1 - Intro to Hockey (was Coach 1 - Intro to Coach).

**Recommended to take online Hockey Canada Skills - Checking and  Hockey Alberta - Intro to Principles of Checking as will be required for Head Coaches in U11 and up



U11

  • ALL Team Officials (Coach or Asst Coach) Must have online RIS Coaches Course
  • One Team Official  (Coach or Asst Coach) must have Safety, Confed Hockey recommends 2
  • HEAD COACH needs Coach 2 – Coach Level, needs Checking Skills/Instructional Stream, can have Safety
    - Online Hockey Canada Coach 2 and U11 Player Pathway and Hockey
    - In Person Hockey Alberta - Coach 2 - Minor Leagues and Hockey Alberta  Intro to Principles of Checking
  • ASST COACH recommended to have all the same requirements of Head Coach at U11



U13

  • ALL Team Officials (Coach or Asst Coach) Must have online RIS Coaches Course
  • One Team Official  (Coach or Asst Coach) must have Safety, Confed Hockey recommends 2
