U9 - 2013, 2014

U9 hockey involves the formation of tiered teams that play city wide. Rec League is not tiered.

The players will vary from beginners that are learning basic hockey skills to those that have more experience.

We plan to have 8-12 teams at the U9 level for 2021-2022.

 

U9 - Rec League

  • Cost of the program is $335.00. Fees can be paid in Full or 3 Payments.
  • A child can register in U9 even if they have not participated in U7-Discovery, U7-JR Timbits, or U7-SR Timbits.
  • For the 2021-22 season those born in 2013 and 2014 are designated to the U9 program.
  • Players will be placed on a team of 18-22 players.
  • There will be 18 games and one practice throughout the season.
  • Dates, times, and locations of ice times will vary.
  • Most ice times will be held on the weekend, but here may be weekday evening ice times as well.
  • Program runs from October to March.

U9 - Community

  • Cost of the program is $545.00. Fees can be paid in Full or 3 Payments.
  • A child can register in U9 even if they have not participated in U7-Discovery, U7-JR Timbits, or U7-SR Timbits.
  • For the 2021-22 season those born in 2013 and 2014 are designated to the U9 program.
  • Tiered teams of 18-22 players are formed after an evaluation process that occurs over 2-3 skates during the month of September.
  • The purpose of tiering is to have similarly skilled players on each team that are also playing against similarly skilled players from other clubs throughout the Hockey Edmonton program.
  • Half ice games will be held throughout the city and surrounding area.
  • Locations of practices vary, but will mainly be on rinks throughout the south side of Edmonton.
  • Most games and practices will be held on the weekends, but there will be weekday evening ice times throughout the year.
  • Games will be played with 1 referee on each half and no scores are kept.
  • No regular goalies on teams – players rotate through all positions, including goaltender.
  • Skating and hockey skills considers the skill level of the team.
  • 1 to 2 team development sessions with a paid hockey provider per year.
  • 18 half ice games and 18-22 half ice practices from September to March, mostly on Saturday and Sunday, but some will be weekday afternoon/evening.

U9 - Development

  • Cost of the program is $725.00. At time of registration the base fee of $545.00 is due and can be paid in full or in 3 payments.
  • For those that choose the Development program, the additional $180 for the Development program will be charged in September after team placement and can also be paid in full or installments.
  • In addition to the program information under U9 - Community, the following will be provided:
    • Additional 5-8 team development sessions with a paid hockey provider per year.
    • Additional 5-8 team practices per year.
    • Additional tournament if available.
