Coaching Courses

What do I need? Where do I sign up? What do I have?

Confed Hockey encourages our Coaches and Assts to take all the courses offered and will reimburse for completed courses for anyone that is on one of our Team Rosters.

So – what do I need? As a Coach? As an Asst?

RIS Coaches must be completed prior to being on the bench or the ice. All other Coaching Courses required must be completed by November 15.

U7-Discovery

  • ALL Must have RIS Coaches
  • One Team Official per 10 Players must have Safety
  • One Team Official per 10 Players must have Coach 1 - Intro to Coach.

 

U7-JR Timbits

  • ALL Must have RIS Coaches
  • One Team Official per 10 Players must have Safety
  • One Team Official per 10 Players must have Coach 1 - Intro to Coach
  • (at least two coaches/assts on each team need Coach 1 – Intro to Coach, at least two need Safety)

 

U7-SR Timbits

  • ALL Must have RIS Coaches
  • One Team Official per 10 Players must have Safety
  • One Team Official per 10 Players must have Coach 1 - Intro to Coach
  • (at least two coaches/assts on each team need Coach 1 – Intro to Coach, at least two need Safety)

U9

  • ALL Must have RIS Coaches
  • One Team Official per 10 Players must have Safety
  • One Team Official per 10 Players must have Coach 1 - Intro to Coach
  • (at least two coaches/assts on each team need Coach 1 – Intro to Coach, at least two need Safety)

U11

  • ALL Must have RIS Coaches
  • One Team Official  must have Safety, Confed recommends 2
  • HEAD COACH needs Coach 2 – Coach Level, needs Checking Skills/Instructional Stream, can have Safety
  • ASST COACH can have Coach 2 – Coach Level, Safety, Checking Skills/Instructional Stream

U13

  • ALL Must have RIS Coaches
  • One Team Official  must have Safety, Confed recommends 2
  • HEAD COACH needs Coach 2 – Coach Level, needs Checking Skills/Instructional Stream, can have Safety
  • ASST COACH can have Coach 2 – Coach Level, Safety, Checking Skills/Instructional Stream

The Coach 1 - Intro to Coach and Coach 2 - Coach Level which has an online component as well as a classroom component.

The Hockey Canada Safety Program (HCSP) also called HU – Online Safety is an online course.

The Checking Skills Course is now called Instructional Stream – Checking Skills and is required at U11 and U13.

Register For Courses

If you already have the courses in another form you do not have to take them again. If you are half done (like the online part of Coach Level) then please sign up to complete the classroom portion.
